Dîner dans le noir?

Tonight, our goal was to have an experience without using our eyes. As a group, we walked over to Dîner dans le noir (Dinner in the dark), part of a chain of restaurants that serve you in complete darkness. For the next few hours, you attempt to eat surprise meals brought to you by blind servers.

The group.
The dinner.

From the moment we sat down, we learned that it was better to feel than to listen:
  • At first all voices seemed so far away, we screamed. Then, after a brilliant idea to high-five, we were shocked to discover our closeness.
  • To situate myself, I found it better to feel everything in the plate with my hands.
  • My ears badly estimated the amount of liquid in the glass. A better tactic was to use a finger to check.
For once, my memories are about what I felt with my hands, not about what I saw or heard.
